Solomons Island, also known as Solomon, is a charming small town on the banks of the Patuxent River where it meets the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Popular with tourists and boaters alike, it bustles in summer where folks come to eat and drink and enjoy the water views. The population is just over 2,000. The area has been inhabited since colonial times and was a center for ship building to support the local fishing industry in the 19th century. The town now welcomes tourists with numerous marinas, seafood restaurants, gift shops, a boardwalk, a sculpture garden, the Calvert Marine Museum where visitors can climb atop a former lighthouse, harbor cruises, and occasional famous performer concerts outdoors. Solomons also has three major hotels, a U.S. Navy family recreation center, and a church retirement home. St. Peter's Chapel is an historic 1889 Carpenter Gothic-style church.

The island is not big but there are some quite side streets with some nice houses. We are not aware of any active communities on the Island, although there are some nearby. The Zillow Home Index value stood at $406,187 in mid-2023.

The Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons is a Smithsonian-affiliated forested sculpture park with first rate pieces of art. It is great for boaters with harbors and marinas galore.

The town is very small and the area is hard to get to. It can get quite crowded and congested in season.
